Second Trip May 28th

So I headed out for my second trip on Memorial Day weekend.  With the goal of getting away from everything a day out surrounded by a bunch of boats and jet skis didn't sound like fun so I headed to a river instead.  This trip started from the Lake Lavon Dam and went to the north tip of Lake Ray Hubbard.

This is right after I put my kayak in the water and headed out at about 7:30.  It was beautiful, not a sound to be heard except the birds, my paddles, and an occasional fish.

It's a little hard to see but there was a snake swimming along the shore next to me.  It's in the center of the picture you can barely make out it's head sticking up.  I saw one other larger snake but nothing came close to me.

I've always thought water drops sitting on lily pads was just really cool looking so I snapped a couple of pics as I passed.

The flowers on the water lilies were stunning so I took a bunch of pictures.  I could have spent hours just floating around and looking at these but I had to start my trip back.

Heading back wasn't hard at all.  The river had very little flow so it was no different than going across the lake.  It was actually better since there was no wind and the water was very smooth.
